Eye Bag Removal

Open your eyes to the possibilities

Eye Bag Removal Surgery Blepharoplasty

No matter how young you may feel on the inside, drooping eyelids can put years on you.

SurgiCare can restore the brighter, more alert look of your younger years with cosmetic eye lid surgery to remove those ageing eye bags.

The procedure (Blepharoplasty) removes the drooping skin of upper eyelids, eliminates bags and tightens the lower eyelid skin.

You'll look more alert and, as a result, more confident.

FAQ’s relating to this procedure

Who is eye bag removal for?
Do you notice any of these telltale signs around your eyes?
  • Excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelid
  • Loose skin hanging from the upper eyelids, making the eyes look tired
  • Excess skin of the lower eyelids
  • Droopiness of the lower eyelids
  • If your answer is ‘yes' to any one or more of these signs, then cosmetic eyelid surgery could very well be the answer you're searching for.
What does eye bag removal involve?
  1. Our goal is to make your experience as easy and comfortable as possible.
  2. Blepharoplasty is performed using local anaesthetic with sedation or a general anaesthetic.
  3. You may be able to go home on the day of your surgery, although most patients are asked to spend one night in hospital.
What should I know?
Before you decide to go ahead with cosmetic eyelid surgery, we will offer you a thorough one-to-one medical consultation with a surgeon who specialises in this type of procedure.
During the consultation, you will be asked about the results you would like to achieve. This will help your surgeon to understand your expectations and determine whether they can realistically be achieved.
In evaluating your suitability for eyelid surgery, your surgeon will assess the amount of excess fat and skin in the eyelid areas, the position of your eyebrows, and the condition of the muscles around your eyelids.
How is Blepharoplasty performed?
  1. For upper eyelid surgery, an incision is generally hidden in the natural fold of the upper eyelids and extends slightly beyond the outside corner into the existing creases. Excess skin can then be removed.
  2. Because the incision follows the natural contour of the upper eyelids, it will be well camouflaged when healed.
  3. For lower eyelid surgery, an incision is generally made just below the lower lashes. Excess skin and fat can then be removed.
  4. As in upper eyelid surgery, the incision is well camouflaged by natural creases.
Are there any risks?
Fortunately, significant complications from Blepharoplasty are infrequent. Every year, many people undergo successful eyelid surgery, experience no major problems and are delighted with the results. Anyone considering surgery, however, should be aware of both the benefits and the risks. Your surgeon will discuss these with you during your consultation.
What happens after surgery?
During the week following surgery, you can expect varying degrees of swelling and bruising. This disappears within seven to ten days. Within the first week, you will be able to use make-up to conceal any discoloration. Stitches are usually removed within 5-7 days after surgery.
When can I resume normal activities?
You should be able to resume most of your normal activities within ten days. Although you may feel well enough to return to work just a few days after surgery, your vision may still be slightly blurred which could make reading or driving more difficult.
What results can I expect?
The aim of cosmetic eyelid surgery is to make you look rested, refreshed and alert. Even though we can't hold back the ageing process, our patients are usually happy with their appearance for many years following eyelid surgery.
How about aftercare?
At SurgiCare, we take a special pride in our excellent levels of post-operative support and aftercare. To monitor your progress, we will invite you back to SurgiCare at prescribed intervals for follow-up examinations with your surgeon or our nursing staff.
