Lip Reduction

Have lips you can love!

Lip Reduction

Lots of people would love to have large, luscious lips. Others already have them, but hate them. The good news is, you have a choice – lip reduction.

FAQ’s relating to this procedure

Who's lip reduction surgery for?
Women and men whose lips are of a size that causes them to feel self-conscious about their appearance. Lips that droop or turn outwards can also lead to a lack of confidence and cause anxiety.
Lip reduction surgery will provide a permanent, natural looking result and last the rest of your life.
What does lip reduction involve?
SurgiCare's goal is to make your experience as easy and comfortable as possible. The procedure can be performed under local and/or general anaesthetic. The procedure takes about one hour and takes about two weeks to heal.
What should I know about lip reduction?
Before you decide to go ahead, SurgiCare will offer you a thorough one-to-one medical consultation with a surgeon who specialises in lip reduction procedures. During the consultation, you will be asked to point out exactly what you would like to see improved. This will help your surgeon to understand your expectations and determine whether they can realistically be achieved.
It is important that you have a clear idea of how you would like to look and, at the same time, realise there are limitations to the procedure.
How is lip reduction performed?
Your surgeon will make an incision the length of your lip inside your mouth and will remove a strip of skin from one or both lips, depending upon your desires. She or he will aim to enhance the mouth and lips area to complement your facial features, giving you a softened, natural mouth.
Are there any risks with lip reduction?
Fortunately, significant complications from lip reductions are infrequent. Every year, many people undergo successful lip reduction surgery, experience no major problems and are delighted with the results. Anyone considering surgery, however, should be aware of both the benefits and the risks. Your surgeon will discuss these with you during your consultation.
What happens after lip reduction surgery?
Take it easy and sleep on two pillows to keep your head elevated for 7-14 days – or however long your surgeon suggests. Remember that swelling and bruising is perfectly normal after surgery, but this will clear up after a few weeks. Expect to see the final results in about three months. Because of the swelling your lips may look larger after the procedure than before, but they will settle in time.
When can I resume my normal activities?
Give yourself a week before getting back to your normal routine. And do not participate in contact sports for at least 6-8 weeks.
Can I expect aftercare?
At SurgiCare, we take a special pride in our excellent levels of post-operative support and aftercare. To monitor your progress, we will invite you back to SurgiCare at prescribed intervals for follow-up examinations with your surgeon or our nursing staff.
