Botox for the Hands

Watching the manicurist file down my nails, I cringed. My hands looked wrinkly and ridden with age spots.

I’d recently had Botox so was feeling confident – but my hands were making me look old.

With my 60th birthday looming, I wanted to show the world that I’m not ready to collect my bus pass yet.

I mentioned it at Surgicare, the clinic I go to for Botox.

“I love what I’ve had done on my face,” I said. “It’s just a shame that there’s nothing I can do about my hands.”

But the lady at the clinic told me to try microdermabrasion fillers and laser treatment. This would get rid of those age sports and plump out my skin.

My husband, Rod, Bought me a beautiful diamond ring for my birthday and I was dying to give it the show it deserved.

I was nervous at first. But apart from an uncomfortable sensation when they injected the fillers, I needn’t have worried.

I had three lots of injections over a period of time.

There was a tiny bit of bruising and, as expected my age spots looked a bit scabby for a while after the laser treatment.

But luckily it was winter so I just wore gloves when I went out.

After about ten days, my hands looked the best they have done in years. Now they are smooth and more plumped out and those age spots have gone.

When I flashed my diamond ring to my mates at my 60th, some of them commented on how lovely my hands looked.

I gave away my secret and some of my friends have gone to Surgicare to have their hands done too.

Even my friend who has a fear of needles decided to go for it. Her hands look great.

I think Rod likes the fact that I look after myself but really he’s happy as long as I’m happy.

I love going for my weekly manicures and I see the Botox and hand treatment as an extension of the beauty salon.

If I had the money, I’d love to have a facelift but for now I’ll let me hands do the talking.
