Botox Injections? No Sweat!

The latest trend from the celebrity circuit is to have their armpits injected with Botox and many people are set to follow this new beauty trend, says leading cosmetic surgery and treatment company, Surgicare. This procedure can help prevent perspiration for up to six months.

Such injections reached fever pitch at the recent Oscar awards, as the Hollywood elite used them to stop unsightly sweat marks spoiling their designer gowns. SurgiCare are now predicting that underarm Botox injections are going to be hot news this summer, as many of this season’s delicate fabrics easily show sweat marks, which can cause a lot of embarrassment.

In the past, people suffering from excessive sweating only had invasive treatments to help cure their condition – from the surgical removal of skin from their armpits, to cutting the nerves in their neck, which stimulate the glands that produce sweat. Therefore, a few quick and simple Botox injections are a miracle cure for many people.

The procedure has very little risk of any significant side effects and requires no anaesthetic. It involves a starch-iodine dye test to identify the areas affected, followed by an injection of tiny amounts of Botox in a grid pattern over the affected skin. Unlike the use of Botox for lines and wrinkles, where the toxin is injected through the skin into the underlying muscles, in the case of excessive sweating (or focal axillary hyperhidrosis), the toxin is injected very superficially into the skin itself. The treatment often becomes effective within a few days.
