Mr Keith Rose
Keith Rose qualified in medicine and surgery at St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1978. His training in general and vascular surgery was undertaken in London and he gained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1984.
Subsequent experience included further posts in London teaching hospitals and eighteen months as surgeon to the International Committee of the Red Cross in conflicts in Cambodia, Afghanistan and Ethiopia.
He joined Surgicare in 1993 specialising in the treatment of venous disease, developing a particular interest in the investigation and treatment of recurrent varicose veins. He has designed an improved version of the pin vein stripper. In 1994 he introduced the then novel Open-Tension Free mesh repair for groin hernia and has since performed over 2000 hernia repairs, mainly as day cases under local anaesthesia.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and is a founding member of the British Association of Sclerotherapists. He has published papers on hernia and varicose vein surgery.
