Mr Andrew Jenkinson

MBBS,MS,FRCS(Ed),FRCS

Mr Andrew Jenkinson is a consultant gastrointestinal surgeon with a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery.

He is the clinical lead at the Centre for Laparoscopic Surgery, Homerton University Hospital , East London and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal London Hospital .

Having qualified at Southampton Medical School he completed his surgical training in London , including experience at the Hammersmith Hospital , St Bartholomew's Hospital and The Royal London Hospital.

During the final part of his training he worked with Professor Motson and Donald Menzies in the Department of Laparoscopic Surgery at Colchester General Hospital .

Mr Jenkinsons academic research culminated in a Master of Surgery thesis on the effectiveness of laparoscopic surgery and the treatment of gut motility problems. More recently he has completed research into laparoscopic hernia repair and surgical nutrition.

Mr Jenkinson is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a member of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons, the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons of GB and Ireland, the British Hernia Society and the British Obesity Surgery Society (BOSS).

Mr Jenkinson is a member of the following bodies:

  • Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS)
  • Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (ALS)
  • European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (EAES)
  • British Obesity Surgery Society (BOSS).

Mr Jenkinson is a general surgeon with a special interest in upper GI cancers, gastro oesophageal reflux, obesity and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
