The Breast Is Yet To Come
A boob job in a jab is the latest way to enhance your cup size, says Penny Fray
In the office, the gym and your social life, you have no problem keeping up your performance. Your breasts, however, leave you flummoxed. They’re simply not as large or uplifted as you'd like them to be. Still, you'd rather stay 'cleavagely challenged' than go under the knife.
Well, guess what? You don’t have to. You can finally chuck away those chicken fillets because injectable breast shaping, known as Macrolane Breast Shaping, has arrived in Manchester.
The treatment works by plumping up the breasts with filler made of hyaluronic acid - a synthetic substance that’s long been used in facial aesthetics.
And it's relatively straight forward. All it involves is a tiny incision under each breast. Then, the formula can be pumped through a canula. No surgery is required and the recovery time is minimal.
According to a spokeswoman from Q-Med, the company who created Macrolane, the treatment is ideal for those too scared to go under the knife.
'Market research has shown there to be a significant number of women who would like to adjust the shape of their body in a natural, non permanent way that does not involve the use of implants or body fat in a major surgical procedure,' she says, 'Many are also very hesitant about undergoing general anaesthesia or being left with a scar. With Macrolane the procedure is short, requires only a local anaesthetic and virtually no time away from work.'
It only takes 45 minutes to perform and can also be used to even out discrepancies in the skin surface, for example, those caused by liposuction and surgical scars.
'With Macrolane it is possible to correct body indentations or shape breasts which means I can make small changes to body shape which make a big difference to my patients.'
Mark Bury, Chief executive of SurgiCare in Manchester, agrees adding: ' Due to the nature of the product, Macrolane enables practitioners to be more creative as the filler can be added as required to form the desired result. The procedure is usually performed in front of a mirror where patients can watch the transformation as it happens.'
Natasha, a 34 year old mother of two from Sale, is certainly impressed with the procedure.
'I'd lost fullness of shape after breast feeding both my sons. But I'd never considered full on cosmetic surgery because of the pain involved and the fear of looking like an extra from Baywatch,' she says 'So, when someone recommended Macrolane - I thought 'why not'? I only wanted to go up a cup size and because there was no need for a general anaesthetic or an overnight stay in hospital, the procedure sounded perfect. Although I'll have to have another injection in a year or so, it's definitely been worth the money.'
The average session costs £2800 and further £1400 for top ups - which is a lot to pay for what’s effectively a subtle enhancement.
Plus, don’t expect centrefold proportions - Macrolane only increases your breastsize by a cup and a half.
