Gastric Bypass

A combination weight loss surgery procedure to change how and what you eat

Gastric Bypass

A Gastric Bypass is a highly effective weight loss surgery procedure. The operation creates a small stomach pouch in the same way as the gastric band. This is then attached to a section of the small intestine. Food then bypasses the rest of the stomach and some of the intestine. This results in you being able to consume a significantly reduced volume of food.

Due to a section of the digestive tract being bypassed you do not absorb as many calories causing a secondary weight reducing effect.

It is the most common form of Bariatric Surgery and is a surgically proven method of weight loss. When combined with a supervised diet, increased activity and behaviour modification it can lead to long-term weight loss and the associated health benefits.

Why choose a Gastric Bypass?

The gastric bypass offers many advantages over conventional diets and some other weight loss surgery procedures.

  • The gastric bypass provides a feeling of fullness quicker and for longer
  • 2 way weight reducing effect, restricting food volume and reducing the calorie
  • Shorter stay in hospital than with 'open' weight loss surgery procedures
  • Enjoy a quick recovery
  • You lose more weight than with non-surgical programmes (and keep the weight off)
  • Benefit from the support of a specialist team of caring healthcare professionals
  • Learn the principles of long-term success - changing your life forever
  • Benefit from knowing it is permanant, giving you peace of mind this life change is forever
